Falstaff 98 points: "deep dark ruby in colour with an opaque core, purple reflections, and subtle brightening on the rim. on the nose, fine nuances of crystallised violets, invitingly fruity with black cherry, hints of cassis and liquorice and hints of nougat. the palate is juicy and complex, with silky tannins, fresh acidity, mineral and persistent with refreshing berry fruit and a fine core sweetness. harmonious and fine with an immensely attractive finish, the wine has great potential for ageing." , Reviewed on 01.01.23 by Peter Moser
James Suckling 97 points: "Plenty of blackcurrant and blueberry character here with cedar and sandalwood undertones that give such interest. Medium- to full-bodied, this has integrated tannins and a long and linear finish. Racy at the end. Classy. Give this three or four years to slightly soften, but it’s already a joy to taste. Drink after 2029." , Reviewed on 07.01.25 by James Suckling
Drinking Window 2028 - 2052, Reviewed on 19.04.23 by Yves Beck
Jeb Dunnuck 96 points: "Spicy red and black currants, leafy tobacco, spicy wood, loamy earth, and some sappy floral notes emerge from the 2022 Château Malescot Saint Exupéry, an incredibly complex, pure, elegant 2022 that has polished tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. Based on 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, drink this incredibly impressive, satisfying Margaux over the coming two decades." The Wine Independent 95 points: "The blend here is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. The aromatics feel appropriately sweet and primary, with a nose of sugared blackcurrant, black pepper, sweet liquorice and fragrant currant. This is followed by a harmonious and polished texture through the middle, carrying blackcurrant, sweet currant, black pepper, liquorice and toasted tobacco, draped over a rich bed of firm and tightly integrated tannins. This has a dark and peppery energy I adore, leading to a finish rich in peppered dark fruits, violets, rose petals and a touch of white peach. This is a delicious Margaux, dark, correct yet perfumed, simply exuding confidence on the palate, through to the long finish. Put this 2022 from this property – too often overlooked – in the cellar, you won’t be disappointed”
