Margaux:

The Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 100 points: "Is the 2019 Château Margaux the wine of the vintage? A strong case in its favor could certainly be made. Soaring from the glass with aromas of blackberries, raspberries, rose petals, violets, pencil shavings and vine smoke, it's full-bodied, layered and sensual, with a strikingly vibrant core of fruit that's framed by ripe, powdery tannins and bright acids, concluding with a penetrating, mouthwateringly saline finish of almost interminable duration. Complex, elegant and utterly compelling, this is a brilliant Bordeaux that anyone with the requisite disposable income is going to want to own." Drinking Window 2029 - 2069, Reviewed on 07.04.22 by William Kelley

James Suckling 100 points: "Amazing aromas of crushed stones and wet soil with fresh mushrooms, then going on to violets and other flowers. Dark fruit, too. Full-bodied, yet agile and fine, with a linear flow of tannins that run through the center of palate. The finesse of the tannins is exceptional, like raw silk and changing all the time. Cool and energetic, yet reserved. Zen-like. 37% of the production and 90% cabernet sauvignon, 7% merlot, 2% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. So well balanced that you can drink it now, but this is one to leave for a decade and more. Ethereal." , Reviewed on 18.01.22 by James Suckling

Jeb Dunnuck 100 points: "Another utterly heavenly wine from this estate is the 2019 Château Margaux, a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot coming from a selection of just 37% of the total production. Deep purple, with an incredible array of ripe currants, blueberries, sweet tobacco, sandalwood, and toasted spices, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless, powerful, yet incredibly sexy mouthfeel, polished tannins, and a great, great finish. As I wrote in the barrel review, it reminds me slightly of the 2016, but has a touch more sun-kissed profile. It already offers incredible pleasure yet deserves 4-6 years of bottle age and will blow you away any time over the coming 40+ years." Drinking Window 2026 - 2063, Reviewed on 11.08.22 by Jeb Dunnuck

The Wine Independent 100 points: "The 2019 Chateau Margaux is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, with the first wine representing 37% of the harvest. Deep purple-black colored, it needs considerable coaxing to release scents of plum preserves, blueberry compote, and ripe blackcurrants, leading to nuances of violets, cedar chest, pencil shavings, wood smoke, and wet slate with a waft of black truffles. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is simply electric, with a firework display of mineral earth and black fruits and super-fine, firm, tannins, plus incredible tension, finishing with epic length and depth. "I'm surprised by the body," commented winemaker Philippe Bascaules as we tasted together. "During primeurs, the 2019 was full of charm. Now it is more concentrated, more powerful." Indeed." Drinking Window 2027 - 2070, Reviewed on 09.05.22 by Lisa Perrotti-Brown

The Wine Cellar Insider 100 points: "This could be the most sensual vintage of Chateau Margaux ever produced. The palate is pure silk and velvet with an incredible sense of purity and refinement. Utterly seamless, the wine glides over your palate builds, lingers, and expands for well over 60 seconds. If you have ample disposable income, buy this wine, it will be a legendary wine in the years to come. Drink from 2029-2065." , Reviewed on 08.07.22 by The Wine Cellar Insider

Rene Gabriel 20 points: "Kunz Fassprobe 2020: (90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot) Konzentriertes, komplexes, tiefgründiges, frisches, elegantes Bouquet, verschiedene rote und blaue Beeren, Maulbeeren, Cassis, Schiefer, zart Nougat, fein Graphit, fein Kräuter. Kraftvoller, dichtverwobener, eleganter, vielschichtiger Gaumen mit viel feinem Tannin, dichter Frucht, konzentrierter, fein muskulöser, eleganter Struktur, vielfältiger, wuchtiger Aromatik, sehr langer, dichter, frischer Abgang mit vielen Rückaromen. Perfekte Eleganz mit Kraft vereint." Drinking Window 2027 - 2060 by Rene Gabriel

Inside Bordeaux 100 points: "A wine that you sink into, drink in the aromatics before taking a sip. You can sense the velvety texture from the first moment. There is so much density here, and yet each tannin plays its part with skill, holding the perfumed black and blue fruits in place without restricting their expression. A signature Château Margaux, with so many different elements lending momentum and energy, and a feeling of effortless balance. 37% of total production, 100% new oak. Loved En Primeur, but this is an upscore. " Drinking Window 2030 - 2050, Reviewed on 26.10.21 by Jane Anson

Cheval Blanc:

The Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 100 points: "One of the unequivocally great wines of the vintage is the 2019 Cheval Blanc, a stunning young Saint-Émilion that wafts from the glass with aromas of wild berries and plums mingled with notions of lilac, pipe tobacco, violets, raw cocoa, licorice, crushed mint and burning embers. Full-bodied, layered and enveloping, it's deep and intense, with beautifully rich, powdery tannins and vibrant flavors. Concluding with a long, saline finish, this rivals the 2016 as the finest Cheval Blanc of the decade, and in many respects it might be thought of as the latter vintage's sun-kissed cousin. Bravo to Pierre-Olivier Clouet and his team!" Drinking Window 2027 - 2055, Reviewed on 07.04.22 by William Kelley

James Suckling 100 points: "Blackcurrants, cassis, graphite and earth on the nose, then changing to roses, violets and berries. Full-bodied with incredible energy of fine tannins and lively acidity. It grows on the palate and escalates to the summit of perfect wine. Very powerful at the end. Holding back and a great finish. Quantity and quality. Menthol. Cool. One of the greatest young Cheval Blancs I have ever tasted. 58% merlot, 34% cabernet franc and 8% cabernet sauvignon. Great finish. Give it time. Try after 2028." , Reviewed on 09.02.22 by James Suckling

Vinous Antonio Galloni 100 points: "The 2019 Cheval Blanc is a stunning, riveting wine. There is simply nothing like a great Cheval in all of Bordeaux. Soaring aromatics are immediately alluring. Bright red-toned fruit, blood orange, cinnamon, espresso and dried herbs build in a Cheval that possesses tremendous layers and exceptional balance. Clean, mineral notes lend tension and drive. The 2019 is a bit strict today and not ready to show all its cards, but it is very clearly a special, special wine in the making. In 2019, the Grand Vin represents 82.5% of the estate's production, a very high amount by any measure. I wouldn't dream of touching a bottle anytime soon. The 2019 is an eternal Cheval Blanc." Drinking Window 2034 - 2059, Reviewed on 24.02.22 by Antonio Galloni

The Wine Cellar Insider 100 points: "One of the few wines I did not receive a sample of to taste in barrel, it took only a moment to realize this was one of those rare, show-stopping gems that will blow your mind in the years to come. There is a unique, sensual texture here that screams opulence at every turn. The wines exotic nature is allowed to show its true character here. The non-stop layers of cashmere textured fruit is the perfect setting for all the perfectly ripe black plums, black cherries, blueberries, and blackberries, which are happy to display their gorgeous purity. The polished, silky finish holds your focus for over 60 seconds as it builds and expands. A worthy competitor to the incredible 2018, if you have the ability to purchase this wine, it is going to be a cellar treasure that people talk about for generations to come. Drink from 2035-2060." , Reviewed on 29.03.22 by The Wine Cellar Insider

The Wine Independent 100 points: "The 2019 Cheval Blanc is a blend of 58% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple in color, it leaps from the glass with fruity suggestions of kirsch, black cherries, and juicy plums, followed by hints of cedar, tar, and black olives. The full-bodied palate is very structured with firm, ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness supporting the taut, muscular fruit, finishing with epic length and a skip in its step. It's fairly showy right now, but the taut structure will require another 5-7 years (at least) in cellar to relax and offer that next-level experience." Drinking Window 2027 - 2060, Reviewed on 01.05.23 by Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Lafite Rothschild:

The Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 100 points: "One of the greatest wines produced in Bordeaux this year is the 2019 Lafite Rothschild, an impeccably balanced classic of immense charm and grace. Wafting from the glass with arresting aromas of cassis, blackberries and cherries mingled with violets, cigar box and warm spices, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, its velvety attack segueing into a layered, concentrated mid-palate framed by exquisitely powdery tannins and ripe acids, and concluding with a long, perfumed finish. This rivals the 2010 and 2016 as the greatest Lafite of the decade, and of those three vintages, it's clearly the most sensual and demonstrative out of the gates. The blend contains fully 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and attained a modest 13.4% alcohol." Drinking Window 2029 - 2065, Reviewed on 07.04.22 by William Kelley

James Suckling 100 points: "So much sweet tobacco, Spanish cedar, dried flowers, dark mushrooms and roses. Really aromatic. This is so polished and very powerful, yet ethereal and refined at the same time. The finish goes on for minutes. Tight and harmonious. You want to drink it! So balanced, yet it will age beautifully. It will be this good forever. 94% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot and 1% petit verdot. Better after 2031." , Reviewed on 12.01.22 by James Suckling

Drinking Window 2027 - 2060, Reviewed on 29.11.21 by Yves Beck

Falstaff 100 points: "dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the edge. a hint of nougat, ripe cherries, a hint of cassis, fresh orange zest, a hint of fine oak, very inviting. complex, full-bodied, ripe black cherry fruit, pleasant fruitiness, silky tannins, freshly structured, mineral, a hint of chocolate. incredibly seductive even at this early stage, great length, certain ageing potential, a wine of enormous charm and great finesse." , Reviewed on 23.02.22 by Peter Moser

Haut-Brion:

James Suckling 100 points: "The black cassis comes out of the glass, together with iodine, sandalwood and subtle moss and wet-bark undertones, then turning to violets. The palate is mind-blowing, with a cashmere texture that unravels on the palate and continues on for minutes. It’s full of superbly complex, ethereal character and mouth-feel, One of the wines of the vintage. As glorious as it may be to taste now, this is one for your deep cellar. Try in 2029." , Reviewed on 11.02.22 by James Suckling

The Wine Cellar Insider 100 points: "Perhaps seeing a 100 Pt score is not a surprise here, but the devil is in detail as every vintage carries a unique signature, and this is the point of tasting and comparing. I am jealous of the younger generation of consumers that will be able to compare the 2018, 2019, and 2020 on maturity, as each vintage has its own strong points and character. The 2019 offers a vibrant, rich, refined, powerful, concentrated, smoky profile with countless layers of roasted, smoked red and black fruits, herbs, spice-box, cigar wrapper, cedar, and burnt leaves. Even though this is incredibly dense and intense, it is also light on its feet. Effortless to drink, with a beautiful, elegant, silky, refined finish that surpasses the 60-second mark, this will be seen by future generations as one of the great vintages of Haut Brion. Drink from 2032-2075." , Reviewed on 29.03.22 by The Wine Cellar Insider

The Wine Independent 100 points: "Composed of 48.7% Merlot, 43.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8.1% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Haut-Brion is deep garnet-purple in color. It waltzes out with flamboyant scents of wilted roses, star anise, mossy tree bark, and kirsch, leading to a core of blackcurrant pastille and stewed black plums. The full-bodied palate has a rock-solid structure of firm, grainy tannins and lively acidity supporting the densely packed, muscular black fruit, finishing incredibly long and with a spicy lift. Give it 5-6 more years in bottle to really hit its stride and drink it over the next 40-years+." Drinking Window 2027 - 2070, Reviewed on 01.05.23 by Lisa Perrotti-Brow

Petrus:

The Wine Independent 100 points: "Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Petrus charges out of the gate with rambunctious plum preserves, fruitcake, and blueberry compote notes, leading to suggestions of Chinese five spice, iron ore, and licorice. The full, rich, densely laden palate is textured with firm, fantastically plush tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with epic length and decadence." Drinking Window 2028 - 2078, Reviewed on 01.05.23 by Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Jeb Dunnuck 100 points: "The 2019 Château Pétrus is a behemoth, and I can't imagine a better marriage of sexy, opulent fruit with purity, precision, and length. Always all Merlot from a single parcel of clay soils, it takes time to unwind in the glass (I followed this bottle for multiple days) and offers a powerful, primordial style in its black cherries, mulberries, smoked tobacco, damp earth, and chocolate, as well as a beautiful floral component that emerges with air. Dense, concentrated, and incredibly rich on the palate, it has a multi-dimensional mouthfeel and sweet yet substantial tannins. Despite plenty of glycerin and opulence on the palate, which certainly makes it fun to taste today, it has a very straight, classic feel that will demand bottle age. It probably needs to be forgotten for 8-10 years and will deliver the goods over the following 50 years or more." Drinking Window 2030 - 2082, Reviewed on 11.04.22 by Jeb Dunnuck

Mouton Rothschild:

The Wine Cellar Insider 100 points: "Mouton Rothschild hasn't skipped a beat since the sublime 2009 vintage! 2019 continues their winning streak with one of the wines of the vintage. Almost opaque in color, the nose resonates with its showy display of Asian spices, cigar wrapper, fresh herbs, cigar box, blackberries, crushed stone and cassis. Full-bodied, richly concentrated, opulent, and equally refined, the multi-layered display of flawlessly ripe berries, elegant textures, balance, freshness and flamboyance is what the great vintages of Mouton are all about. The finish crosses the 60 second mark with ease. Drink from 2035-2070." , Reviewed on 29.03.22 by The Wine Cellar Insider

The Wine Independent 100 points: "The 2019 Mouton Rothschild is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it is a little broody to start off, soon unfurling to offer notes of creme de cassis, baked plums, and boysenberry preserves, followed by hints of crushed rocks, tree bark, and forest floor. The medium to full-bodied palate is rich, concentrated, and intense, with grainy tannins and a long, lively, mineral-sparked finish. This is still so youthful - moving at a glacial pace - so, give it a good 7-9 years more in cellar and drink it over the following 40-years+." Drinking Window 2027 - 2060, Reviewed on 01.05.23 by Lisa Perrotti-Brown

La Mission Haut-Brion:

Jeb Dunnuck 100 points: "The 2019 Château La Mission Haut-Brion is Merlot-dominated, checking in as 53% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc. It's a more opulent wine compared to Haut-Brion, and the Merlot is front and center here, with ripe, sexy black cherry and redcurrant fruits as well as licorice, scorched earth, cedar pencil, and graphite aromas and flavors. Rich, exuberant, and straight up sexy on the palate, it's full-bodied, has a deep, layered mid-palate, building tannins, and a heavenly finish. Just a prodigious, powerful, off-the-charts expression of this terroir, it actually reminds me slightly of the 2005 (or 1998?) with its mix of sexiness and opulence. This is one of the few 2019s that will make your eyes roll back in your head. It will need 10-15 years of cellaring, but it’s a sensational wine on every level and will have 40+ years of prime drinking." Drinking Window 2032 - 2062, Reviewed on 11.04.22 by Jeb Dunnuck

Rene Gabriel 20 points: "Kunz Fassprobe 2020: (53% Merlot, 39.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7.5% Cabernet Franc, 14.5% vol. Alkohol) Konzentriertes, samtenes, tiefgründiges, komplexes, dunkles Bouquet, Backpflaumen, Edelhölzer, Korinthen, dunkler Tabak, zart Eukalyptus. Vielschichtiger, kraftvoller, eleganter Gaumen mit dichter, feiner, kräftiger, dunkler Frucht, konzentrierter, dunkler Aromatik, sehr viel feinem Tannin, eleganter, fein muskulöser, cremiger Struktur, sehr langer, kräftiger, aromatischer Abgang mit vielen Rückaromen." Drinking Window 2026 - 2060 by Rene Gabriel

Ausone:

James Suckling 100 points: "Like a bouquet of fresh flowers on the nose, as well as blackberries, raspberries and blackcurrants. Sandalwood as well. Full-bodied with incredibly polished tannins that have the texture of the finest velvet. The palate is very fine, oriented with fabulously pure fruit and minerally and stone undertones at the finish. It’s so classical in nature. Essence of Ausone. 60% cabernet franc and 40% merlot. From organically grown grapes. Best after 2027." , Reviewed on 16.01.22 by James Suckling

Drinking Window 2027 - 2065, Reviewed on 16.12.21 by Yves Beck
