James Suckling 97-98 points: “This shows plenty of drive with dusty and creamy tannins that run the length of the wine and builds at the end. It’s medium-bodied showing a focus and energy. Dark currants and flowers flavor. This really has length and it has the depth to improve with age. 93% cabernet sauvignon and 7% merlot.”

Yves Beck 98-99 points:” Mouton 2024 presents itself with character and serenity. It is impressive in its ability to assimilate the specific features of the vintage, while at the same time expressing its own identity and personality. The bouquet reveals nuances of black berries and sweet spices, complemented by scents of liquorice, aniseed and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, the wine combines charm, seduction, temperament and nobility. It has an incisive structure that I have rarely seen from Mouton. Worthy of Obi-Wan's light sabre, the acidity has the merit of overshadowing the finesse present in an energetic logic that enhances the wine's brilliance and opens the way to depth. As a tasting is not a competition dedicated to timing, it is essential to follow the wine's development in the glass. In this case, between 4.55pm and 5.25pm! Regularly putting freshness back into the glass, by which I mean the wine, helps you to see and assimilate the wine's progress. The nature of Mouton, its DNA, becomes increasingly insistent, obvious and comforting. The nuances of graphite, the notes of cedar, the subtle woodiness and the fragrances already mentioned confirm this. The tannins manage to encircle the incisiveness to create a symbiosis paving the way for a wine that will appeal to several generations. Bordeaux has certainly evolved in terms of its wines' ability to be enjoyed earlier, but its ultimate purpose remains dedicated to ageing. Mouton 2024 will convince wine-lovers

The Wine Cellar Insider Jeff Leve  (95-97) points: “Cigar box, flowers, black currants, blackberries, espresso, licorice, spice box, and forest leaves initiate the wine's complex aromatics. On the palate, the wine is almost creamy, exhibiting freshness, energy, length, and purity. This upbeat wine is chalky, complex, and enhanced with sweetness, an array of spices, and more of those juicy, fresh currants in the refreshing, mint-tinged finish. I particularly enjoy the Indian spice notes that emerge at the backend of the finish. The wine consists of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot. Only 2010 had a higher percentage of Cabernet in the blend. 12.9% ABV, 3.77 pH. 44.5% of the harvest was placed into the Grand Vin. The harvest took place September 23 - October 5. Drink from 2030-2060."

Jeb Dunnuck 95-97 points: One of the wines of the vintage, if not the wine of the vintage, the 2024 Château Mouton Rothschild checks in as a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot, hitting 12.9% alcohol and a pH of 3.71, that's resting in 100% new barrels. It sports a dense purple hue as well as absolutely rocking aromatics of blackcurrants, freshly sharpened pencils, graphite, and smoked tobacco. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a layered, opulent mouthfeel, velvety tannins, ample mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's an incredible achievement in the vintage that will need just 4-6 years of bottle age and have a broad, lengthy drinking window. Hats off to technical director Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy and the entire Mouton team.

Neal Martin (94-96) points: “The 2024 Mouton Rothschild, which has a little more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, was picked between September 23 and October 5 and aged for 18 months in 100% new oak. This has an understated bouquet with blackberry, cedar and graphite scents that take their time to unfold. The nose possesses very fine delineation though the oak is a little more prominent at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied and quite linear in style with fine tannins. A less flamboyant Mouton Rothschild in keeping with the style of the vintage, the 2024 discretely gains depth towards the finish and reveals a dash of white pepper on the aftertaste. Classy, very classy.”

Fallstaff 96 Points: ‘’Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Fine cassis, black cherries, orange blossom, nougat, very inviting bouquet. Full-bodied, black cherries, ripe, silky tannins, structured with finesse, displays a very good length, a balanced, delicate Mouton with 12.9% alcohol, a real promise for the future. (100% new wood).“

Jancis Robinson 17.5 points: “Deep purple hue. Purity on the nose with notes of dark fruit and spice. Rich and full for the vintage with a fine grain of tannin. Structured and long. Good potential. “
The Drinks Business 95-97 Points: (Pauillac; 93% Cabernet Sauvignon; 7% Merlot; yields above the appellation average; pH 3.71; IPT 63; 12.9% alcohol; with Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy at Mouton Rothschild). Cedar, but a little less at this early stage then Le Petit Mouton. But is still gives a sense of how this will evolve aromatically. A lovely hint of rose petal. And redder berry fruits too. But then we find, above all with aeration, cassis, bramble, mulberry and black currant – in short, this is very, very Cabernet! A little introvert at this stage, this is all about fruit purity. I find this beguiling and enticing in equal measure, incredibly pure, precise, focussed and then crystalline in the mouth. Here we find the darker stone fruits – damson and cherry and a hint of the cedar to come. There’s more density (still) than Le Petit Mouton and more forward momentum too. Impressively substantial, again spherical at the core but pushing into the cheeks, so with considerable amplitude and a density and concentration largely absent elsewhere. Very aerial on the finish with a lovely Cabernet menthol lift. Incredibly long. This feels exceptionally classy and achieves a greatness in a vintage where that is extremely rare. A genuine vin de garde.

William Kelley’s Wine Advocate (91-93): “Harvested between September 23 and October 5, the 2024 Mouton Rothschild is a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot that attained 12.9% alcohol. Offering up aromas of crème de cassis, cigar wrapper and pencil shavings, it's medium to full-bodied, dense and layered, with a muscular, monolithic style built around austere, chalky tannins. Somewhat reminiscent of the estate's 2001 vintage (which is just coming around today at age 24), this structured, youthfully angular Mouton will require patience.”
