Bordeaux 2016, Ten Years On

An Exceptional Tasting in Zurich - 14th November

We will be holding an exceptional Bordeaux tasting in Zurich on Saturday, 14 November 2026. I think it would be the perfect opportunity for us to finally meet in person, for you to get to know AVU better, and to see for yourself the kind of company we are and the relationships we have built over the years with the greatest wine estates.

If you love Bordeaux, this is a tasting that would normally be almost impossible to experience: around 50 of Bordeaux’s greatest Châteaux, all under one roof, presenting the same legendary vintage — 2016 — exactly ten years after the harvest. We would be delighted to welcome you to our Bordeaux Festival in Zurich on 14 November for this very special anniversary tasting.

We would be delighted to welcome you to our Bordeaux Festival in Zurich on 14 November for this very special anniversary tasting. Given the exceptional quality of the event, places are strictly limited. If you are interested in joining us, I would therefore encourage you to let us know as soon as possible, so that we can secure your place before the available spaces are filled.

This exclusive, one-of-a-kind event will give you the rare opportunity to taste the 2016 vintage side by side from many of Bordeaux’s most prestigious estates, including several Châteaux that very rarely participate in tastings of this kind. Ten years on is a fascinating moment to revisit these wines: many are now beginning to enter a beautiful stage of their evolution, while the greatest examples still have decades ahead of them.

What makes this tasting truly exceptional is the calibre of the estates that will be present. Thanks to our long-standing partnerships and friendships with the great Châteaux of Bordeaux, we have been able to bring together an extraordinary line-up — including several estates that very rarely participate in tastings of this kind. Among them will be Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Latour, Château Haut-Brion, Château Cheval Blanc, Château Ausone, Château La Mission Haut-Brion, Château Angélus, Château Pavie, Château Figeac, Château Palmer, Château Léoville Las Cases, Château Montrose, Château Trotanoy, La Fleur-Pétrus, Château d’Yquem, and many more.

In total, we expect around 50 of Bordeaux’s leading Châteaux, in many cases personally represented by their owners, directors or winemakers. To have so many legendary estates under one roof, on the same day, all presenting the same vintage is extremely rare. It gives you the opportunity to taste the 2016 vintage side by side from many of Bordeaux’s greatest names and truly understand the differences between estates, appellations and terroirs.

Many of these wines received 100-point scores from leading international critics, but scores are only part of the story. Let’s taste them together, compare them side by side and decide for ourselves which are our favourites.
We have been organising this event for several years, and it has become an absolute highlight for us — and also for many of the Château owners and winemakers who return year after year. They particularly appreciate its intimate atmosphere and the opportunity to exchange directly with passionate wine lovers rather than simply pour their wines at a conventional tasting.

This direct interaction is an important part of what makes the day so special. You will not only taste extraordinary wines, but also have the opportunity to meet the people behind them, ask questions and hear first-hand how they see the evolution of the 2016 vintage after its first decade. And this year, the concept could hardly be more fascinating: one legendary vintage, 2016; ten years of evolution; and around 50 of Bordeaux’s greatest Châteaux together under one roof. You will be able to compare Left Bank with Right Bank, Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, and the individual expression of Bordeaux’s different terroirs — all through the lens of one of the region’s most celebrated modern vintages.

To keep the experience personal, comfortable and uncrowded, the tasting will be divided into two sessions:

Slot A: 10:00 – 12:00
Slot B: 16:00 – 18:00

The slots are designed to avoid overcrowding and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The first session will be dedicated to those who would like to approach the tasting more seriously and will therefore be held without music. The second session will have a slightly more relaxed atmosphere, with music accompanying the tasting.

We are also delighted to once again have RIEDEL as an official partner of the event, providing the glassware and allowing all the wines to be tasted under optimal conditions.

Given the exceptional quality of the tasting, and also to reassure our Château partners that priority is given to genuine wine buyers and collectors, a ticket price will apply to the event. We are pleased to offer a special early-bird price of CHF 300 per person, VAT included, valid until 18 October. After this date, the ticket price will be CHF 350.

Important: The full ticket price will be refunded if you place an order of at least CHF 2,000 excluding VAT for one of the wines presented at the tasting by November 30.
